Charouz Racing System starts the second half of the FIA Formula 2 season with Round 8 at Red Bull Ring

After getting the second podium of the 2022 season last week at Silverstone, Charouz Racing System is already preparing for another race weekend, this time at Red Bull Ring. The Austrian track will be the home of the eighth round of the FIA Formula 2 championship, that will mark the beginning of the second half of the 14-rounds long calendar. 

This time Enzo Fittipaldi and Cem Bölükbasi will find a familiar circuit, where they both already had the chance to race in the previous seasons, also getting some notable results. It’s a pretty fast track and it has two or three overtaking spots that will be crucial in the two races, and it’s also quite short so the gaps in Qualifying can be a matter of thousandths

The Brazilian driver, P9 in the driver standings and very close to the top 5, raced at Spielberg several times, including last year’s and 2020 FIA Formula 3 rounds, got a podium finish in the Formula Regional European Championship in 2019 and has been a race winner and a pole sitter in 2018 while competing in the ADAC Formel 4 championship.

The Turkish Rookie stepped on the podium of the once-named Österreichring twice, driving an LMP3 prototype in the European Le Mans Series in 2021 and a Dallara F320 in the Euroformula Open in the same year.

The Czech team, currently P7 in the Team Standings with a streak of 5 rounds always in the points, has a remarkable track record too in Austria, with two podium finishes in 2018 and 2020, with a few other point finishes also in 2019.

The schedule for the weekend will as usual see the cars hit the track for Free Practice and Qualifying on Friday, with the Sprint Race getting underway in the late afternoon of Saturday and the Feature Race on Sunday morning.

“We’re doing a great job, we’ve been able to find a good pace on every kind of track in the last five rounds and the results are speaking for themselves. We know this one very well, the Red Bull Ring is a track where we already had some very positive weekends and both our drivers already have some experience of racing there. It’s a particular track, old school I’d say, fast and short, so I’m expecting a very tight Qualifying session, but anyway the target is clearly to get on the podium again and bring home some other important points”.

“I’m really looking forward to this weekend, Red Bull Ring is a track that I really enjoy and where I’ve been able to race and get some good results in the past seasons, so I can’t wait to get there. Obviously the goal is to qualify in the top 10 and to finish once again in the points to extend our positive streak, it’s gonna be a very close fight but we’re ready”.

“Red Bull Ring is such an amazing track and in the past I’ve always been able to be very competitive there, I’m truly looking forward to it because I love racing there and I think I can have a good shot at my first points in Formula 2”.
