Charouz Racing System ready for Round 4 of its 2022 FIA Formula 2 campaign as Cem Bölükbasi rejoins the team
“After missing the two rounds in Jeddah and Imola it feels amazing to be back, I’m super excited and I can’t wait to hit the track in Barcelona”.”

Charouz Racing System is heading towards the fourth round of the 2022 FIA Formula 2 season at Barcelona aiming for more points after the positive results conquered at Imola. The Czech team is also up for another lineup update, as Cem Bölükbasi is finally back in shape after some physical issues forced him to skip the third round. He will return to the wheel of the #23 car pending the outcome of a routine FIA Medical assessment on Thursday.
The big challenge for the Turkish driver, having basically skipped the whole official test three-days session, will then be to get to find the limit in a Formula 2 car on a track where, on the other hand, he already raced at in other categories, also scoring a pole position and winning a race last year in the Euroformula Open.
Enzo Fittipaldi, on his side, has displayed a strong pace in the tests and he’s totally focused on doing anything he can to score another podium after his P2 at Imola. Something that he’s already managed to do twice at this track in 2019, when he was competing in the Formula Regional European Championship Certified by FIA.
The Czech squad has a very positive history at the Circuit of Barcelona-Catalunya too, having scored several point finishes and a podium in the past seasons. The key for a good weekend will be to start from last month’s setup and refine it quickly and effectively during the Free Practice session on Friday morning, in order to stay in the first five rows in Qualifying and be in a good position for the races. The Sprint Race (26 laps) and the Feature Race (37 laps) will then as usual go green respectively on Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning.
Antonín Charouz, team owner
“First and foremost I’m truly happy to welcome back Cem, I hope he’s back in a perfect shape and I’m sure he’s really looking forward to get back in the car and pick up from where he left. I’m quite positive that it’s gonna be a very close fight weekend for all of us, because having had an official testing session there last month we’re all gonna hit the ground running since Free Practice and Qualifying will be crucial because at Barcelona you don’t wanna have to recover a lot of positions during the races. We’re ready to give it all and hopefully bring home another good result”.
Enzo Fittipaldi
“I’m really looking forward to race in Barcelona this weekend, we recently had a very good testing session which went very well so I think we’re very prepared for this race. Qualifying in the top 10 will be very important on this track since is pretty difficult to overtake during the races, but anyway we’ll try to keep up with the good results we scored at Imola”.
